Have a Happy and Safe Christmas

Christmas time can be a time when our mental health can face major challenges.

What should be a time to unwind, take stock or spend time with loved ones can often bring pressures to bear on our mental health.  We at D12CMHF hope you keep well over Christmas and offer our four areas for you to keep in mind when trying to keep safe this year.

Sleep - Holidays can be a difficult time to maintain your sleep hygiene, especially if you are off work or are attending many late night celebrations.  Try get your usual quota of sleep.

Alcohol- Is a major depressant and it can be very easy to over-indulge at this time in an effort to get into the Christmas spirit.  Be mindful of your limits.

Food- Staying on top of your diet and weight can improve your mood and maintain a positive self-image.  All things in moderation and you'll be fine.

Exercise- Not only does regular exercise help improve your mood, boost energy and help you relax it can also augment your immune system.  Try do some brisk festive walks.
